“European Union Fisheries Ministers reached an agreement on Tuesday on total allowable catches and quota distribution for the next year. Portuguese fishermen will have to catch less hake, sole, and langoustine. Nevertheless, the cuts are below the proposals put forward a month ago by the European Commission, emphasized the Minister of the Sea.
The agreement on the distribution of fishing quotas in the Atlantic, Mediterranean, North Sea, and Black Sea waters was reached after two days of negotiations in Brussels. The ministerial meeting began on Sunday, resumed yesterday, and was not concluded until 9 a.m. this Tuesday (8 a.m. in Lisbon).”
